Literacy... What is it?

Do you know what "Literacy" is? Literacy is "the ability to read, write, speak and listen in a way that lets us communicate effectively and make sense of the world."

Without it, we are putting our new generation of children at a huge disadvantage. It should start during pregnancy and soon after birth.

I remember when my boys and granddoll were babies, they used to stare at me when I read to them. I noticed how how they watched my mouth move and they would try to do the same. Although it starts from the womb, it really magnifies when they are held and you're reading to them everyday.

That's why literacy is critical to me and should be critical to everyone else, so that we can put our kids at an advantage when they enter school vs a disadvantage.
